Bellingen’s local agricultural show is coming up fast and there will be a full program of horse events held over the two days of the show. This means participants should start to think about their event entries now. The main arena will be the showcase for gleaming horses of all different breeds, exciting showjumping competition, beautiful show ponies and hacks and immaculately turned out riders as well as special Pony Club events to encourage our local riders to take part in their show.
On Saturday 20 May, the breed classes will be paraded by their handlers into the ring to compete against others for the Champion of their breed. Show visitors will see breeds including Thoroughbreds, Australian Stock Horses, Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses, Australian Riding Ponies, Shetlands and Palaminos to name just a few. All Champions of each breed then compete for the coveted Supreme Led of the Show and the beautiful bronze trophy kindly donated by our local business Realities Cold Cast Bronze. Also on Saturday there will be five showjumping events including a Junior Grand Prix and the Pony Club classes.
On Sunday 21 May horses and riders will compete for the ultimate Supreme Hack and Supreme Rider of Bellingen Show. You will see horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes and riders from the very young to the more mature. The feature event of the showjumping will be the North Coast Holiday Parks Grand Prix, which is always spectacular to watch and attracts experienced showjumpers capable of jumping over 1 metre.
If you haven’t shown your horse before, Bellingen Show is an excellent show to start out and our Horse team is only too happy to help you with any questions you may have. Don’t forget to book your stables early as they fill up fast. The Horse Schedule is currently being prepared and will be up on the Bellingen Show website www.bellingenshow.com.au in March. Camping and stabling forms will also be available on the website.
