Another action packed Day in Tamworth saw Round Two of the Classic, where Pete Comiskey topped the aggregate tables with a score of 179 on Ervines Just Jim, which included an equal top score for the round of 90. In equal first potion is Mat Holz on Bulla Tamborine, with James Keyte on Pimpampa Poppet rounding out the top three on 178. Watch the classic final live at www.landmarkequine.com.au from 7pm on Thursday 5th February.

Mat Holz led the way in Round Two of the Challenge with a score of 78.50 on Glenore Scoot N Spin but this wasn’t enough to catch the front runners with Felicity Burton leading the way with an aggregate score of 147.69 followed by Michael Wilson on Ocean Expo on 146.50 and Amelia Servin on Hellreycious 144.50 rounding out the top three.

In a final dominated by equine greats such as two time Gold Cup winner Ben Hall, current Warwick Gold Cup Stallion winner Michael Wilson and Non Pro Futurity winner Amelia Servin (nee Tonkin) it was the crowd favourite Felicity Burton (nee Forsyth) aboard her magnificent mare JR Elsola Rey (RS Chisim x Jenny Wren) who took out the hotly contested final of the Prydes EasiFeed Performance Horse Challenge and in doing so took home the $15,000 custom made Navaho Trailer and $8,000 winners cheque.

Felicity and her husband Carl purchased JR Elsola Rey in 2012 for $5,000 from Victorian Tony Soffra and were immediately thrilled by the foundation that was put on the mare who competed last year in the Challenge but was bought along slowly with the this year’s competition in mind.

Felicity considers last night’s challenge to be one of her proudest moments and is on the hunt for another prospect to challenge and draft at the following Classic’s commenting that the concept along with the sponsorship from Prydes Easifeed and Navaho is second to none.

At only .04 of a point separating first and second was Michael Wilson on his gelding Ocean Expo by resident sire Soda Justice out of Smart Little Argyle bred by the Field family and purchased for $7,500 in 2012.  Expo ran 6th in the challenge last year and this year took home $4000 in cash plus prizes.

Barraba local Amelia Servin (nee Tonkin) aboard her mare Hellreycious (TR Dual Rey x One Hellofa Spin) placed third talking home $2,000, fourth was Mat Durkin and Reality Pepto (Peptogrady x Smith Family a Little Wiser) earning $1,500 and fifth was Huon Smith  aboard the Hamblin Pth Ltd owned Westbrook Red Roc (Designer Roc x Westbrook Sunset).  The Barnett ASH Rising star Award for under 25 riders was won by Adam Wallen aboard Shane and Nelli Corbourl’s mare Darma Acres Cuppa Latte. The 2015 Prydes Performance horse Challenge was the biggest yet with over 90 competitors and is sure to grow in entries given this year’s successful event.

Landmark would like to thank Major sponsor Prydes EasiFeed and trophy supplier Navaho Trailers for their support as well as the sportsmanship displayed by all the competitors in this year’s competition.
