Coffs Harbour & Districts Riding for the Disabled will be holding an Open Day on the 18th October 2015.  Coffs Harbour Riding for the Disabled runs out of Valery Trails Riding School, located at 758 Valery Road, Valery. If you take the Glennifer Road (via Bonville) and follow the signs to the centre. The bridge located on Valery road on the Repton side is closed for repairs at the moment, so please come via Glennifer road.

The day will begin at 10am running to 2pm. The Centre will be showcasing some of our riders, displaying the skills they have developed through horse riding. There will be a display of some of our equipment which we have had purpose built for some of our riders.

Other activities on the day include Pony rides, Photos on our wonderful Clydesdales, Horse Poo Lotto, Putt Putt Golf, Horse Weight Guessing Competition, Balloons in a Float Guessing Competition and a Silent Auction which has been supported by the donations of vouchers from local businesses. To these businesses we at the centre extend our heartfelt thanks for the support.

We will be having a BBQ offering sausage and steak sandwiches, hot and cold drinks, cakes and slices.

All the proceeds from the day will go towards expenses incurred in running the Centre, this includes the maintenance of equipment, the purchase of new equipment, the care of our fantastic horses.

Coffs Harbour & Districts Riding for the Disabled has been running over the past 10 years and is fully self-funded charity.  The Centre provides horse riding activities for a contingent of +/- 30 young children and adults within the community.

The activity besides recreational is also important as a health, body and mind therapy means.   We are one of 38 centres affiliated to the NSW RDA which is a proven RTO registered and highly respected organisation.

The Centre has been generously supported over the years by various businesses in the local area and other charitable organisations, which has enabled the Centre to provide purpose built saddles for our riders along with building an arena. We would dearly love to have a cover over our arena enabling us to run in all weathers however the cost for this is very prohibitive and sadly it is something we will keep wishing for.  However we continue to hold fundraising activities to support the costs involved in the running of the centre.  We have a contingent of 17 + horses that we use on each riding day which are held each Tuesday during school terms.

The Centre couldn’t run without the wonderful contributions of our volunteers who work tirelessly during each riding day, preparing the horses, feeding them and walking alongside our riders during their riding time. We always welcome new volunteers who would like to help us continue to provide this service.

Anyone who would like to volunteer is more than welcome to contact the centre to obtain more information on what is required.

We look forward to seeing everyone from our district coming along to our Open Day and have a look at what we provide for our disabled community members and to have some fun with us and win lots of fantastic prizes that have been donated for the day.

Hope to see you there.  For further information, please contact Mary Quirk on 66534301 or
