England Return to Avenge the Trophy

Tuesday, February 11th, 2020

For Immediate Release:

This April, the Flannels English polo team will return to our shores for the 112th Polo International to challenge Australia’s best polo players vying for the coveted trophy that they so narrowly failed to win last year.

This is the ‘Ashes’ of Polo.

Offering guests the chance to watch the highest goal polo in its purest form in Australia, Windsor Polo Club will host the Polo International on Sunday 5th April.

‘Last year’s test was a spectacular showcase of our horses, players and fields. It was a brilliant day full of fast exciting polo, amazing horses and full-on fun.

This year sees us up against the UK again. They will be very tough. James Harper and Ollie Cudmore are both accustomed to playing these matches and know how to get a win’. – Glen Gilmore, Ellerston Polo Manager and former Australian Polo Captain

James Harper, English Polo Captain, whom is currently in New Zealand for the NZ Open is ‘Looking forward to having another crack at the Aussies. We need to make up for our surprise loss last year’.

The event will have entertainment both on and off the field, along with the Juan & Me Fashions on the field competition with prizes valued at over $3000.

Guests will have the chance to meet the players, stomp a divot like Julia Roberts or even try their hand at polo, with the team from Riverlands Polo School.

All whilst enjoying a refreshing beverage and wander through the PurePolo Laneway showcasing local businesses from the Hawkesbury and surrounds.

There will be 3 games of polo, firstly showcasing Australia’s young, up-and-coming talent with the Junior Polo Challenge followed by the Women’s International at 1pm and culminating in the fast, furious and intense Main Event at 3:30pm when the English men will play Australia.
