Missy Daniels has been announced as the Australia Country Director at Working Animals International, the international animal welfare charity formerly known as SPANA.
The newly created Country Director role reflects the charity’s ambition to build its presence in Australia, raising awareness of working animals and growing support for its work around the world. Working Animals International has been fundraising in Australia since 2017 and has an established Australian supporter base. Missy will join the organisation on 8 September, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in organisational leadership, growth, communications and advocacy.
Missy joins the charity from senior consultant roles at a range of charities in Australia and New Zealand. Previously she held senior leadership positions at the RSPCA Western Australia (WA), Breast Cancer Care WA and PetRescue. Across these roles, Missy has driven organisational growth through fundraising and marketing.
Missy has a longstanding commitment to improving animal welfare and has held a number of board and committee roles with Australian animal welfare organisations, including Australian Alliance for Animals.

I want to bring working animals such as horses, donkeys, mules, camels and oxen into the animal welfare conversation in Australia.
When we talk about animal welfare, we readily talk about companion animals, farmed animals and wildlife. Working animals deserve that same attention, particularly given the vital role they play in the lives and livelihoods of millions of people around the world.”
